USEA Job Opportunity: Advertising & Marketing Role

The United States Eventing Association (USEA) is hiring an Advertising and Marketing Assistant, Coordinator, or Manager. Title dependent on experience. Please read on for details of the job.

TITLE: Full Time – Advertising and Marketing Assistant (or) Coordinator (or) Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Programs and Marketing

STATUS: Non-Exempt

Position Summary: This position supports the USEA Director of Programs and Marketing with marketing management, sponsorship fulfillment and program coordination. This position also has an independent advertising role. This includes administration of programs and the committees associated with each, providing sponsorship and development administration and fulfillment, selling and managing advertising, and developing and implementing marketing plans and strategies, while producing content to promote the USEA programs.

Key Principles:

The USEA is looking for a highly motivated individual who is able to deliver high quality work and execute under pressure/deadlines. The individual should possess strong organizational, problem solving, and effective communication (both written and verbal) skills. Applicants should be extremely detail oriented with experience in marketing and advertising. Experience with committees is a plus. The individual must have an in-depth knowledge of the sport of eventing and its key players.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. USEA Marketing Management

  • Develop and implement a marketing plan for each program in coordination with the Director of Programs and Marketing.
  • Oversee and conduct fulfillment of all marketing plans to include:
    • Working to promote all USEA programs across all media platforms,
  • Writing articles and stories related to programs; conduct interviews,
  • Working with the media department to schedule all marketing content.
  • Develop and implement a local/regional/national marketing plan for the Association aimed at the general public and fans of equestrian sports.

2. Work and Attend Various Program Events

  • Attend the AEC and assist with miscellaneous duties assigned by Director of Programs and Marketing.
  • Miscellaneous other program events (domestic) potentially including USEA Annual Convention, Program Championships, etc. for media coverage/promotion. Duties may include writing press releases and taking photos for journalism inclusion, as well as organizational and logistical planning for Championships.

3. Act as USEA Committee Liaison to Various Committees as Assigned

  • Arrange committee conference calls and meetings.
  • Participate on committee conference calls.
  • Take notes or minutes of meetings.
  • Work on fulfillment of Committee motions with USEA staff, outside contractors and volunteers.
  • Assist the Director of Programs and Marketing with various committees as needed.
  • Assist with groundwork that comes from the committees.

4. Advertising Management

  • Create and manage the USEA advertising packages.
  • Sell ads and advertising packages to clients and manage their insertions.
  • Work to identify new advertising clients.

5. Sponsorship Fulfillment

  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets to keep track of sponsorship deliverables and fulfillment.
  • Help the Director of Programs and Marketing with managing and scheduling sponsorship fulfillment items. This also includes all advertising incentives provided to USEA sponsors.

6. Assist the Director of Programs and Marketing, As Assigned

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary (market rate) + benefits (Health, Dental, STD, LTD and Life, 401K, 11 paid holidays, 15 vacation/sick leave days). USEA advertised office hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. Some weekend travel and work. Hybrid model or telework will be considered for the right candidate.

ABOUT THE UNITED STATES EVENTING ASSOCIATION

The United States Eventing Association is the national organization dedicated to the education and development of horses and riders in the equestrian sport of three-day eventing. The USEA was founded in 1959 and has approximately 13,000 members in all 50 United States in addition to over 100 international members. The USEA recognizes around 250 competitions nationwide. The organization is a non-profit 501 C (3) corporation directed by a Board of Governors with day to day operations run by a small permanent staff from the headquarters in Leesburg, Virginia.
