The Moira Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest (EOI) to lease and activate a prominent Coram building.
Mayor Libro Mustica said the EOI process is an opportunity to further explore the community and business ideas that were suggested during the development of the council’s visitor service strategy.
“We are looking for a private operator to activate this iconic building. The filing could include developing the facility into a dynamic hotel company with a dedicated visitor information point,” said Cr Mustica.
“This building is located next to the ‘Piazza’ in Cobram and we hope that the EOI process will reactivate the underutilized areas in order to better meet the modern needs and interests of residents and visitors.”
He said, given that it is an iconic building, “would be an activity that people would bring to the area and our local products and all we have to offer would be wonderful like a cafe-dining experience”.
“There could be other activities that could get people into town and still have the information we would normally provide,” Cr Mustica said.
“We want to activate the piazza so that the two complement each other.
“It’s a center piece that adds vibrancy to the whole area.”
