All-electric cars still have a premium price tag, but Tesla is slowly but surely making its vehicles more affordable. Today the price for Model 3 and Model Y has fallen, but only for the basic models.

As reported by Business Insider, the Model 3 is $ 1,000 cheaper and costs $ 36,990 for the base model instead of the previous price of $ 37,990. However, with the Model 3 performance configuration, the price increased by the same amount from $ 54,990 to $ 55,990.

It’s similar with the Model Y. The base model is now $ 2,000 cheaper and priced at $ 39,990, while the price of the Model Y’s performance configuration has increased from $ 59,990 to $ 60,990.

Tesla didn’t advertise or comment on the price changes, but it’s clearly good news for anyone with their eyes on the base model of either car.

The price changes follow Tesla’s decision to invest $ 1.5 billion in Bitcoin earlier this month, which caused the price of the cryptocurrency to skyrocket. Elon Musk’s company is also preparing to produce a much more expensive electric vehicle next year in the form of the $ 200,000 Tesla Roadster, which was originally slated for 2020.
