Sheetz Starts Accepting Cryptocurrencies | Business

According to a news release, Altoona-based restaurant and convenience chain Sheetz announced today that it will begin accepting cryptocurrencies.

Digital currency payments are made via Flexa, a purely digital payment network.

This allows customers to use digital currencies such as Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin and Dogecoin to pay for goods in the store or fill up with a pump.

“We are constantly innovating, looking for new services, and providing what our customers want, when they need it, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” said Linda Smith, Payment Manager at Sheetz. Includes accepting a variety of payment methods. We are very much looking forward to working with Flexa to deploy support for cryptocurrencies and other types of digital assets in stores. “

Sheetz will begin accepting digital currencies using Flexa’s immediate, scalable and climate-neutral payment technology at some Sheetz stores later this summer, as will also be accepted by Sheetz’s fuel pumps.

Sheetz currently runs a number of local stories, including Scranton, Taylor, Dickson City, Clarks Summit, Wilkes-Barre Twp., Plains Twp. And Kingston Twp. The chain has 622 stores in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Maryland.

Sheetz customers can also link their My Sheetz Rewardz loyalty account when paying with the Flexa-enabled app.

“As interest in digital currencies has reached record highs, the fact that merchants who accept them have the real and tangible benefits of attracting better mobile customers, as well as fraud and cost savings. It’s easy to lose track of it, “says Flexa co-founder Trevor Filter. “Sheetz is one of the most advanced brands in our business and understands our customer base better than anyone else. We can help Flexa become the first convenience and retail chain to embrace digital currencies directly. I am very pleased. “”

To seamlessly enable Flexa’s instant fraud approval process for digital currency payments, Sheetz turned to a relationship with POS technology partner NCR.

“By connecting to the NCR payment gateway through an existing point-of-sale solution, retailers can quickly integrate new solutions and easily introduce new innovations enabled by digital currencies,” says NCR’s best. Tim Vanderham, Chief Technology Officer, said.

Sheetz customers who want to be notified when Sheetz payments are available on Flexa can download the Flexa-enabled app on or follow Flexa on Twitter at @FlexaHQ.
