Mexico Court Battle Looms Over Outsourcing Tax Crackdown

Companies in Mexico are asking courts for more time to comply with the country’s new outsourcing law as they face more compliance requirements and harsher criminal penalties for tax evasion.

More than 100 companies have filed injunctions against the measures in a bid to delay changing their subcontracting structures as required by the law, according to Gabriel Fernández, a lawyer with Reynoso & Atondo, and business consult Javier Zepeda, who is advising about 150 companies on the issue. Fernández is handling between 10 and 15 injunctions requests against the law.
