A former Reddit CEO is turning arid land into rugged forests. How to scale it globally

Yishan Wong, former Reddit CEO, is a self-proclaimed technologist working to accelerate the global forest restoration process. Forests, a natural carbon sink, play an important role in sequestering carbon from the atmosphere. Unfortunately, major bottlenecks (the availability of freshwater, land, and seeds) have scrutinized the scalability and resilience of forest restoration as a nature-based response to climate change.

With Terraformation, Wong and his team wanted to prove that affordable technologies (like solar-powered desalination plants) can turn dry and deserted land into robust and healthy forests. More importantly, their technology is open source and encourages people from all over the world to test and replicate it.
